| Plywood |  In the production of plywoods, the logs are selected carefully since it requires a good log which is generally straighter and larger in diameter. Then the logs are peeled into sheets of veneer and cut to the desired dimentions. After drying and patching, these plies are stacked as cross bonding under heat and pressure with strong adhesives.
Plywood production is designed regarding to application area. Normal plywoods are produced with urea-formaldehyde glue giving limited water resistance while marine grade plywoods are manufactured with water resistant phenol formaldehyde adhesive to prevent the damaging effects of humidity. Main reason for using plywood instead of plain wood is its resistance to cracking, twisting and shrinkage. Thanks to technological developments, quality of the plywoods also increased in time.
